Birth Pool Hire

for dreamy home births in Oxfordshire and Northamptonshire

Perfect for planning your dream home birth without the hassle of buying, storing or even cleaning up after yourself.

Giving birth in water is usually top of every woman’s birth plan…

and with good reason; more comfort, less likely to need interventions, incredibly soothing and relaxing, to name just a few advantages.

But did you know that a birth pool is not a given for a hospital birth? Maybe someone else is already in the pool room? Maybe they can’t fill the pool fast enough, or they want you to wait in the assessment unit before granting you access?

Getting your own pool for use at home guarantees that it is available, that you can get into it as soon as you want and you don’t even have to leave the comfort of your own home to get to it!

But birth pools are quite a bulky item to purchase for one use, so take the away the stress and hire yours today.

“Home birth is epic”

“When the pool was ready, I got in and it was the calmest, comfiest, loveliest and safest environment I could have imagined. My home! I have nothing bad to say. Not one bad moment, or interaction. No policies, no requirements. Just me, my husband, two incredible midwives. It was beautiful.”

How do we get started?

To book your pool hire, get in touch today via the contact form at the bottom of this page to check availability for your estimated due date and confirm which size of pool will be most appropriate for you. I have two pool sizes available; mini and regular ‘birth pool in a box’.

To confirm your booking, simply pay a £50 deposit, the balance payment is required min 24 hours prior to delivery, should circumstances change and you no longer wish to go ahead with a home birth for any reason, the deposit is non-refundable. Once the pool has been delivered the cost is non-refundable should you not go ahead with a home birth or not use it for any reason.

Frequently asked questions

There are two key factors to determine which pool will be the best size for you; firstly you will need enough space to fit the pool and allow your birth partner and midwives to comfortably move around it to be able to support you and secondly you need to be able to fill it with enough hot water to make it comfortable.

The mini is the perfect size for you to move around and feel safe and supported and requires around the equivalent of two bath tubs of water to fill.

The regular size can accommodate both you and your partner and requires around 4 bath tubs of water to fill

No! People have visions of home birth as some sort of blood bath, but the reality is actually far from this. I recommend that you have a number of towels that you are happy to dispose of afterwards and plenty of incontinence pads to protect surfaces, but any ‘mess’ can easily be kept contained to an area that is easy to clean up afterwards.

You don’t! I do it all for you. The pool must always be used with a single use liner, this means that all you need to do is drain the water out using the submersible pump and hose, straight down the loo is fine, then the liner and hose are binned, leaving the pool dry to be packed away. I will then clean the pool down once collected to ensure it is sterile for future use.
